The Board of Mayor and Aldermen need to have their inboxes "flooded" yet again with requests to VOTE NO on this rezoning on March 22.
An article from the Tennessean below will tell you the tactics that have been previously used by this developer to get a project approved. I do not think the Elected Officials of Franklin really want to be seen as what is presented in this article, but we have seen these same tactics of misrepresentation in our community.
Key points are that this development plan does not follow city regulations for public safety during flooding and does not follow their own comprehensive land use plan for the limited disturbance in the flood plain.
Their own Planning Staff and Planning Commission (whose Chair is a Certified Floodplain Manager in Nashville and Manager of all the state Floodplain Managers) have disapproved this project TWICE and do not recommend BOMA to approve. The requested zoning is not suitable for this constrained property that is surrounded by a river and is in a flood plain, with no way to get first responders in or citizens out in the event of a disaster.
Please send your VOTE NO emails by Tuesday March 22 to the following email addresses asking them to support and trust their staff by denying this rezoning for the health, welfare and safety of the community. Something better can be developed on this land as conservation where soccer fields and/or a recreational complex of some sort that would not disturb the floodplain, aid the community and not have hundreds of people swimming in water during a disastrous rain event. https://www.williamsonhomepage.com/brentwood/flood-ready-tennessee-calls-for-statewide-flood-resiliency-plan/article_d9326dc6-964f-11ec-945c-7b8b4313ff26.html?fbclid=IwAR3ba94LFqoOfEA7vg_WkkYXKLf7KoWM33tJEu-Uy7BVIimmOEw30mmscSA
