The Issue

Living in California, I find myself increasingly frustrated by the relentless surge of government overreach. California Assembly Bill 831, a proposed law, embodies yet another unnecessary, paternalistic intrusion into personal choice that could have serious implications on my personal freedom. This government mandate seeks to control what I can and cannot do on my own phone or computer as an adult. I value my freedom to decide how I engage with legal and responsible forms of entertainment without interference from state lawmakers.

AB 831 aims to impose strict regulations that limit digital freedom and personal autonomy. Instead of focusing on real issues that Californians face, this bill targets the personal choice of millions of law-abiding residents, including me. It fails to recognize that adults are capable of making responsible decisions regarding their digital interactions. The proposed restrictions are not only obsolete in acknowledging technological developments, but they are also an affront to personal liberties.

The notion that government can dictate my choice of digital experience under the guise of protection is both overbearing and redundant. Is this really the direction we want our state to take? The answer should be a resounding 'No'.

We need to preserve our rights to digital freedom and oppose unnecessary meddling in our private lives. I urge you to consider the broader implications of AB 831 on freedom, autonomy, and personal responsibility. Encourage our legislators to focus on significant societal challenges rather than imposing restrictive and unjustified laws.

Please join me in opposing AB 831 and safeguarding our right to individual choice. Sign this petition to protect our freedoms and send a clear message to our lawmakers: we will not yield to unwarranted interference in our private decisions.
