Oppose Development Application 12781/2024 for Rezoning at 626R Redlynch Intake Road

The issue

UPDATE:

On the 12th March 2025 Cairns Regional Council approved the application to allow the process for the Currunda Ck Industrial Precinct to proceed. As a community we are outraged, and will be applying to the Planning and Environment court to have the decision overturned. As a local resident, the idea of rezoning land at 626R Redlynch Intake Road for potentially more than 21 lots disturbs me. It poses too great a risk without proper assessments on its consequences; particularly on traffic, environment and flooding. Development proposals like these come with an inherent responsibility to guarantee public safety and environmental preservation, which Development Application 12781/2024 blatantly disregards. There is no mention of addressing the increased traffic on Intake Road or the plausible risk of accidents and injuries this traffic could cause. Moreover, lack of plans for raising the bridge at Currunda Creek or setting up a new intersection on Intake Road further attest to the thoughtless planning.

The scanty environmental surveys do not provide a comprehensive understanding of how such a development will impact our environment, including the water quality. We cannot comfortably stand by knowing there's no assurance on the water quality to be discharged to Currunda Creek. Our natural resources shouldn't be compromised for hasty developmental decisions.

Hence, the residents of Redlynch, QLD, Australia are called upon to join this petition against Development Application 12781/2024. It is not just about the land; it is about preserving our environment and standing up for appropriate and conscientious development. Please sign this petition. Your signature is a stride towards responsible development.
