Oppose Creek Bend Phase I & II Apartments at 281 North & Borgfeld Drive

Oppose Creek Bend Phase I & II Apartments at 281 North & Borgfeld Drive
The Issue
Comal ISD schools Kinder Ranch Elementary, Pieper Ranch Middle School, and Pieper High School are approaching capacity or are over capacity.
As an example, Pieper Ranch Middle School already has 10 portable trailers behind the school.
The City of San Antonio has annexed land on or near just west of 281 North and Borgfeld Drive, where the landowner did not oppose this action, per Texas HB 347.
As a result, the property owner sold the land at the northwest (NW) corner of 281 North and Borgfeld Drive to Indiana-based Pedcor Investments, who is currently permitted by the City of San Antonio to place over 700 apartments homes known as Creek Bend Phase I and Phase II apartments.
Per an official in-person meeting with Comal ISD Superintendent Dr. John Chapman and his staff with Mason Brand, parent of two children attending Pieper Ranch Middle School, there was no coordination with or even minimum courtesy notification to the school district, by either the City of San Antonio or the San Antonio Housing Trust who ultimately arranged this transaction.
Per this meeting, these type of apartment homes have 1.8 children per domicile.
This is an estimated 1,260 additional students that will be thrust into Kinder Ranch Elementary, Pieper Ranch Middle School, and Pieper High School.
This is in an addition to regular single-family residential home growth in the area.
These schools are not budgeted, staffed, nor logistically arranged to handle this many additional new students and are already over capacity or approaching over capacity, due to unprecedented growth in this area. This puts the students' education and safety risk.
This will additionally cause undue traffic and infrastructure burden in and around the already bustling 281 North and Borgfeld Drive area.
San Antonio city officials will publicly complain about uncontrolled or unbridled growth. Yet, will approve these plans and add to the very problems of which they claim they are trying to solve.
The actions by the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio Housing Trust to have permitted and approved this project are grossly irresponsible and put the impacted communities' children's education at risk and their welfare and safety at risk.
Our petition implores a reversing of this permitting due to the dire circumstances these apartments will cause on the local school systems.

San Antonio City District #9 Councilman, John Courage, 210-207-7325 (downtown office), 210-207-0955 (San Pedro area office). COMMENT: John Courage is the hands-down, biggest proponent of these apartments going up all over San Antonio, and in his #9 district, which now runs all the way up to the Comal County border. He's now running for Mayor. If he wins, this is only going to get worse in our area.

San Antonio Housing Trust, Executive Director, Pedro Alanis, 210-735-2772. COMMMENT: Runs the San Antonio Housing Trust and helps identify, arrange, and otherwise find affluent geographical areas and better schools to install the low-income/no-income apartments into. Will claim "this is a private land transaction between private parties." Will claim, "it's not fair that he has to subsidize the underwriting of all of you in Timberwood Park's [and surrounding areas] home loans through his personal taxes to the federal government underwriting of FDIC ensured banks.....Thus, all of you that live in Timberwood Park [and surrounding areas], technically live in government housing too!" Makes a whole bunch of irrational justifications for placing these type of apartments into communities like ours.
