Oppose Concord Rd Gas Station Development — Keep Our Community Historic

Oppose Concord Rd Gas Station Development — Keep Our Community Historic
The Issue
We, the residents of Old Concord, the Concord Area, and Unincorporated Knox County in the Concord Road/Northshore Drive/Turkey Creek Road area need your help!
There is a development going in front of the Knox County Commission and Knox County Municipal Planning Committee to build a 7,000-square-foot fourteen-pump EZ-Stop gas station, convenience store, and drive-through restaurant next to the HISTORIC Old Concord Neighborhood and other RESIDENTIAL neighborhoods, as well as near train tracks and Fort Loudon Lake. There is also a historic cemetery next to this proposed development.
This intrusive and incompatible development would negatively impact the QUALITY OF LIFE and PROPERTY VALUES for those of us who live in the area and nearby. The village is rich in the history of Farragut and Knox County (see this article)
There are also noise and traffic issues. The noise from semi’s delivery products and large fuel tanker trucks along with the possibility of spills when delivering fuel to the UNDERGROUND gas tanks which will be near Fort Loudon Lake. (This is also an environmental concern should they leak or rupture.)
Northshore Drive cannot handle the amount of traffic it currently has in this area, much less the large increase that would occur if this 7,000-square-foot business is approved. The roundabout will not be able to handle such an increase in traffic.
Something smaller, that is more in line with the community that surrounds this property and nearby Farragut would be far more appropriate for the lot, should development continue. This kind of development is not cohesive with the surrounding area, which includes four public parks, a local community golf course, and a dog park, all within a two-mile radius.

Please sign and share this petition and ask our elected and appointed officials to do the right thing and LISTEN to their constituents, the residents who would have to live with this development every day.
