Oppose Changes to Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Emblem

Oppose Changes to Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Emblem
The Issue
The new emblem unveiled by Ngee Ann Polytechnic is lacking in solemnity and unfitting for our institution's heritage and image. We urge the school's management to reconsider adopting this emblem and uphold our original red and golden shield that generations of alumnus and students cherish and hold dear to heart.
The school emblem represents the essence of our identity and serves as a bridge that connects our institution's community and stakeholders. Changes to the emblem should not be taken lightly and ought undergo thorough consultation with the wider alumnus, student, and faculty community at large to ensure that it is a symbol that we proud of associating with.
The new emblem has received considerable amount of strong feedback regarding major changes in aesthetics, with the new product being reduced to a simple blue shield with two tube-like lines. Despite best efforts in framing the new design as a "contemporary yet dignified visual representation", it unfortunately does not convey the solemnity befitting an institute of higher learning - least to say ours that pride ourselves on our heritage of more than six decades.
We compel the school management to reexamine this new design, and conduct a thorough consultation with relevant stakeholders including alumnus, students, and faculty for an impartial and fair evaluation. We trust that with the support of our Ngee Ann community, we are able to achieve an amicable arrangement that future generations of NP community will be proud of.
