Hello everyone!

Thank you again for all your support on helping keep Laurel Elementary students, parents, staff, and the surrounding community, safe!

On Thursday, Jan 14th, our petition was submitted to the Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) Board Meeting with 501 signatures. It was presented in the Public Comments part of the agenda, along with many other comments that also opposed the Raising Cane’s proposal. Thank you all of you who submitted a Public Comment; it was amazing hearing everyone’s concerns.

In that same board meeting, Jason (the Brea City Planner) presented the current proposal for building a Raising Cane’s next to Laurel Elementary. The board members asked many questions and expressed many concerns about safety. This wasn’t an issue that the board could vote on; they just expressed many concerns to Jason that he would bring to the city. This Wednesday, Jan 20th at 5pm, the city is hosting a community meeting via Zoom for the proposed Raising Cane’s project. This is an opportunity for us, the community, to share our comments and concerns. To participate, email your full name to planning@city of brea.net by 5pm on January 19th.
