Recently I’ve been scammed by a builder out of £30,000. £500 cash and £28,500 via bank transfer. Plus clearing his mess £1000 from front and back garden the builder ran away on holiday and took my money and my disabiled dad and elderly mums dreams with them. Banks are useless. I couldn’t allows images due to size. Please understand they spent minimal amount on materials as well as buying cheap and wrong materials and leaving my kitchen with 2 meter sq wide hole and unsafe. Builders Controls banned their work. They don’t respond to legal letters. Also I’ve spent further £80,000 getting another builder to do the works. I believe in 2024 all builders Must carry a hand held debit or credit card machine so householders who want their homes fixed are covered with their bank. I found out I’m not alone. Others have lost more £60,000 or more. This should never be the case in U.K.. All builders must be carrying card machines for payment!
