The Issue

For many residents of Bridport, including myself, visiting the Bridport Household Recycling Centre is not just a routine task but an integral part of sustainable living. There are never any queues; the staff are efficient, helpful, and welcoming, making every visit a smooth and pleasant experience. I personally really enjoy my trips to the centre, not only because I am contributing to environmental preservation, but also for the chance to discover fabulous bargains!

However, the Dorset Council's plan to implement a booking system for entering the facility threatens to disrupt this harmonious process. Currently, the centre functions excellently, without the need for additional constraints. Imposing a booking system may deter many from making impromptu recycling trips, potentially increasing local landfill waste and reducing the community's enthusiasm for recycling.

The introduction of a booking system seems unnecessary, considering the lack of congestion and the effective management already in place. It could lead to decreased accessibility for residents who rely on the flexibility of visiting the centre as their schedules permit. Moreover, it could create an administrative burden for both the residents and the dedicated staff at Bridport Centre.

Implementing this change without clear evidence of need or benefit undermines the trust and satisfaction of the Bridport community, who take pride in their commitment to the environment and the services that support this cause.

Join me in calling on Dorset Council to reconsider this decision and keep Bridport Household Recycling Centre as accessible and efficient as it currently is. By signing this petition, you help preserve the service excellence of our cherished recycling centre, ensuring it remains a welcoming place for all Bridport residents committed to sustainable living. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard.
