The Issue

Petition to the Union County District Attorney’s Office:

We, the undersigned, respectfully call on the Union County District Attorney’s Office to ensure that the criminal case against Daniel Stanford is resolved in a manner that reflects the severity of the charges and the harm alleged.

According to public court records and information shared by the victim, the defendant faces 24 felony charges involving the alleged sexual abuse of children.

We recognize that plea agreements are a legitimate part of the criminal justice system. However, in cases involving the alleged repeated sexual abuse of minors, any resolution should promote accountability, protect the community, and maintain public confidence in the justice system.

We respectfully ask the District Attorney’s Office to:

Carefully reconsider any proposed plea agreement that would not include incarceration, if such an agreement is under consideration.

If an appropriate resolution cannot be reached, present the evidence to a jury.

Ensure that victims are meaningfully heard throughout the process.

Demonstrate transparency and accountability in the handling of this case.

This petition is not about prejudice or predetermined guilt. It is about asking that allegations of child sexual abuse receive the careful consideration and level of accountability that such cases warrant.

By signing the following petition, we respectfully urge the District Attorney’s Office to pursue a resolution that reflects the severity of the alleged conduct and serves the interests of justice.
