SAVE THE DATE: Planning Commission Vote is Expected on 10/5/26!
It’s incredible that this petition has gained nearly 3,000 signatures! As this proposal moves closer to a decision, we have several important updates and ways you can help.
Ambient Communities is still proposing a 28,000-square-foot, five-story apartment building on the half-acre median between San Elijo Middle School and the dog park—directly along one of only two routes into and out of San Elijo Hills.
The addition of more than 70 residents and their vehicles at this constrained location raises serious concerns about evacuation delays and emergency access. These concerns are especially significant because San Elijo Hills is in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, yet an updated Fire Protection Plan and evacuation analysis have not been publicly reviewed.
The Planning Commission is currently expected to consider the project on October 5 at 6:30 p.m. Please save the date now. We will share confirmed details as the meeting approaches.

- Aerial photographs of the proposed half-acre site
- Images and renderings of the proposed project
- Traffic and evacuation conditions on community roads
