Open Source the Presto Engine

The Issue

When Opera announced the intention to follow Google to Webkit, and later, to Blink Engine, many people cried in social media about how we where closing to an IE-like time where standards are adopted only when the engine maker decided to support it, where the engine's bugs and flaws became de-facto standards and no one could do nothing to change it.

The only safe route to allow the web to remain free and grant new developers a chance to re-imagine the browser, allow Opera Software to focus on the experience, and keep the engine field open, is to allow everyone access to Presto, maybe allowing only non-commercial usage, and charging a fee to commercial usage.
