As therapists, healers, students, educators, citizens, we call on Thomas Hübl and the online Collective Trauma Summit 2025 taking place Oct 12th - 18th to publicly acknowledge and address the genocide in Palestine.
As the Collective Trauma Summit happens, featuring many respected teachers and thought leaders from the global trauma, wellness and spiritual community, we find ourselves living through one of the worst humanitarian crimes of this century. In Gaza, entire families, children, homes have been violently erased. Famine has been used as a weapon. Hospitals and schools bombed. This is genocide, the biggest collective trauma of all, and Western governments are complicit.
And yet, throughout this catastrophe, we have witnessed how much of the healing and spiritual world remains silent. The Collective Trauma Summit is silent too. It does not name 'genocide'.
We believe silence, and misuse of language, in the face of atrocity is complicity. The language of healing and “oneness” cannot be used to transcend moral and political urgency. To speak of generalised “trauma,”, "conflict", “suffering,” "social change" or “transformation”, while avoiding and not naming the realities of colonialism, apartheid, and grievous state-led genocidal violence is to engage in spiritual bypassing — a profound misuse of spiritual-therapeutic language to avoid confronting truth and enable ongoing cycles of denial, violence and oppression.
Our Call:
We call on Thomas Hübl, the organisers of the Collective Trauma Summit, all participating speakers, and the wider wellness/therapy world to:
1) Publicly name and acknowledge the genocide in Palestine and the catastrophic trauma being inflicted on the Palestinian people. Naming it a 'genocide' matters.
2) Recognise Western government's historic and continued colonial complicity, including the active arming and political endorsement of the state of Israel’s actions today and call for its end.
3) Make space for Palestinian voices — healers, experts and scholars, particularly those who have lived through this atrocity — to speak directly about their lived experience of collective trauma and resilience on the ground. This includes in recorded content after the summit ends and in future events.
4) Commit to ongoing accountability and education within spiritual and wellness communities, naming how bypassing, depoliticisation, avoidance and misuse of language perpetuate wider systemic violence.
Healing cannot occur while we look away from, deny or mis-name atrocity. There is no collective recovery that does not begin with truth, no trauma integration that does not begin by naming the wound.
We invite all who care about justice, truth, and genuine healing to sign, share, and speak out together.

UPDATED NEWS 18th Oct 2025: Internationally renowned trauma expert, holocaust survivor, and tireless advocate for Palestine Dr. Gabor Mate signed our petition.
He writes: "Notwithstanding my friendship with and undiminished personal regard for leading figures taking part in this Collective Trauma Conference, I feel compelled to add my voice publicly to those calling for the healing/therapeutic community to acknowledge and to address the unspeakable collective trauma that has been for decades inflicted on the people of Palestine, and especially in the past two years. A trauma witnessed and grieved by millions around the world."
Also signing our petition are Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo, the duo behind Science and Non Duality (SAND), leading voices in the spiritual / healing space, and the team behind the films The Wisdom of Trauma and While Olive Trees Weep, which offers „a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation”.
