Open Letter to the Democratic Party

Open Letter to the Democratic Party
The Issue
Dear Democratic National Committee,
We are writing to request that you remove our names from your fundraising database. We've already given far more than we can afford to give. Some of it went directly to the DNC, and some of it went to Hillary Clinton. But it doesn't really matter which one of you got the cash. The point is we're broke -- and super pissed off about your total lack of gratitude for all the money we've already given you. Since you don't seem to be aware of our donations, please let us do the math for you:
$33 Billion dollars of taxpayer-funded bailout money went directly into Wall Street executive bonuses. We may never know all the names of the bankers who stole our money, but here are a few names we DO know:
-Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs got $167 million in bailout bonuses
-Donald Sussman of AIG/Paloma Partners got $200 million in bailout bonuses
-Ken Lewis of Bank of America got $155 million in bailout bonuses
-Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan Chase got $114 million in bailout bonuses
-Bob Rubin of Citigroup got $124 million in bailout bonuses
-John Mack of Morgan Stanley got $79 million in bailout bonuses
These men have all made huge donations to the DNC and Hillary Clinton. And a big chunk of that change came straight out of our pockets. It will be many years, if ever, before most of us recover from the financial devastation that their criminal actions inflicted. And adding insult on top of injury, they've also used our tax money to avoid prosecution, fight Elizabeth Warren's efforts to protect consumers, and lobby for pro-Wall Street laws that still leave all of our retirement savings in jeopardy from the next Wall Street meltdown.
Many of us are lifelong true blue Democrats, but enough is enough. We're tapped out. Go ask someone else for money.
Yours truly,
Dead Broke Democrats
PS - Don't just sign this letter! We want more from you! Please tell us how the 2008 crash hurt you and your family. If we get enough signatures we will ask Elizabeth Warren to read some of your stories on the floor of the Senate. We need our lawmakers to stop worrying about the banks and start worrying about us!
