In Ireland, Muslims make up 2% of our population, yet we have no halal options/section in any of the 450 Centra stores, 223 SuperValu stores, 152 Tesco's stores, 150 Aldi stores and more than 160 Lidl stores throughout Ireland.

We, therefore, request of Centra stores, SuperValu stores, Tesco's stores, Aldi and Lidl stores to open a halal meat section in their stores as soon as possible due the increasing demand of the Muslim community in the Cork city. 

The Islamic Community at Cork cannot truly feel included and at home until there is a Halal food section through these stores.

The Islamic faith has strict dietary restrictions with what is permissible being called Halal. Even though the Islamic community forms a significant minority here in Cork, halal products should be made. 

The number of Muslims in the city is increasing every year, and the current number is approximately 5000.
