—East Quartzite Road holds vital significance for the local community, serving as a crucial conduit for everyday residents and businesses alike. Unfortunately, despite East Quartzite Road being a public road, it has recently been closed off, causing significant inconvenience to all involved including those in Split Rock township and Sioux Falls, SD.

The decision to close this road affects not only the local residents but also the community of privately owned businesses for whom this roadway is indispensable. Such small and locally owned businesses deserve unhindered and easy access to the city of Sioux Falls. Restricting access to East Quartzite Road leaves these businesses at a disadvantageous position, hampering their connectivity with suppliers and customers, and ultimately impacting their growth and service.

Historically, East Quartzite Road has been a public utility, crucial for the daily commute and economic engagement across the region. Statistics show that more than 60% of local businesses depend on this route for a seamless connection to Sioux Falls. By closing this road, local commerce is struck by a logistical blow, right when revival is critical for economic growth and sustenance.

We are urging the relevant authorities to reconsider the closure of East Quartzite Road. Public roadways are intended for the community’s benefit, not for isolation. An open road policy will restore the logistical flow and ensure that the vibrant small business community continues to thrive and contribute positively to the local economy.

The solution is straightforward: Restore East Quartzite Road to its original open status and allow public access once again. Enable the residents of Split Rock township and the business community to reconnect efficiently with Sioux Falls. Not only will this enhance economic collaboration, but it will also uplift the community spirit and common conveniences.

Support this cause by signing this petition and help us call upon the responsible entities to take prompt action. Reopen East Quartzite Road and foster a more connected and vibrant community.
