On Thursday April 18th, Bill 39 will be voted on to go to the second reading. Private Member's Bill 39: An Act to provide for control by local municipalities over renewable and affordable energy undertakings. This proposed Bill, if enacted, would turn back the clock on the progress that Ontario has made on Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation.

You can read the full text of the Bill 39 here, but its 'highlights' include: killing-off the Feed-in Tariff Program, imposing additional restrictions on the placement of wind turbines, allowing municipalities to 'opt-out' of energy conservation, and limiting the Ontario Power Authority's ability to procure Renewable Energy.

What's At Stake?

Not only would Bill 39 destroy Ontario's leadership in Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, it would also signal the demise of Ontario's burgeoning Renewable Energy industry. This would result in the loss of the thousands of good jobs that this industry supports, at a time when Ontario's economy can least afford it.

What Can You Do?

Please show your support by signing our petition against Bill 39. 

You can also make a real difference by letting your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) know that you oppose Bill 39 and support investing in Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation for Ontario's future.

The best ACTION to take at this time is to CALL YOUR MPP or VISIT their constituency OFFICE IN PERSON and share with them that you are a member of their constituency and that you support renewable energy and the benefits it provides this province. Let them know that we are on the right path with the Green Energy Act and Feed-in tariff program. Together they have provided an unprecedented opportunity to create jobs and wealth in Ontario.
