Amazing news. The petition was on the front page of the Globe and Mail yesterday. The article by Karen Howlett highlights that the proposed transfer to Rykka, if approved, would set a new precedent: 

"The stakes are enormous, not just for Rose of Sharon itself but for the future of Ontario’s not-for-profit long-term care sector.

If the government approves the transfer, it would be the first time a for-profit company in Ontario has taken over the operating licence of a not-for-profit home."

We can challenge this by writing to our MPPs urging them to deny the transfer now, for the future of non-profit long-term care in Ontario.

I've reopened the petition knowing that there is more at risk here than just one home. Having more signatures is amazing, but if we can get support from your MPPs it will do so much for Rose of Sharon and all the non-profit homes who might face a similar battle in the future.
