Declare a State of Emergency for Essex County Flood Victims

Victims of the high water and flooding in Windsor and Essex County need your help. Residents of Wahneta Avenue in LaSalle spoke to the office of Taras Natyshak today about the flooding and incurred damages that are not insured. They informed us that they are hoping the government will declare a state of emergency in order to provide relief funding for those affected. To make that happen we need to make our voices heard by town officials, government representatives, and media.

We, as well as our neighbours, are currently dealing with the prospect of catastrophic home and property damage and possible health issues due to the growth of mould. The Town of LaSalle is providing free sand bags but this is simply not enough. Not even close. We need help and we need a plan. We need action.

You can help by signing this petition and showing your support to victims of flooding in Windsor and Essex County. We need to see evidence of flood mitigation, and plans for how our government is going to support those struggling to manage the water, repair damages to our homes and properties, and keep our families healthy. Our voices must be heard.

If you have been directly affected by the flooding, we encourage you to send an email outlining your own concerns, damages and potential health risks to the office of Taras Natyshak at nhennin@ndp.on.ca as soon as possible.
