Every local government election time, the residents of the City of Sydney vote for their representatives in council, as is their democratic right.

Disturbingly however, ever since 2016, businesses and corporations in the City of Sydney get two votes each. This assault on local democracy was passed by the NSW LNP government of then Premier Mike Baird.

Democracy is about representing people not property. 

We therefore call on the Premier Chris Minns and the Minister for Local Government Ron Hoenig to immediately repeal the profoundly unjust City of Sydney Amendment (Elections) Bill 2014.
