One Amendment to Save America

Fellow citizens, my name is Scott Vivian and let’s start by clearing up one of the most dangerous political myths in America today: That we need political parties to give us approval to speak, to vote, to have our district issues addressed. Political parties need two things: power and money, and they both secure the other. I am proposing one amendment to save America:
That only US citizens and citizens voting in US territories can fund federal campaigns. Artificial constructs, corporations, and legal entities are prohibited.
The Declaration of Independence states plainly and without ambiguity:
“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
That moment has arrived again—not in the form of rebellion, but in the solemn restoration of self-government through this one Amendment, which alters the government to secure the safety of its citizens.
This one amendment will remove the power of political factions from the heart of government. It will restore the direct, constitutional relationship between each citizen and their representative. And it will free every member of Congress from the grip of factional brokers—those unelected power players who currently control who gets funded, who gets silenced, and who gets punished for thinking independently.
In 2025 alone, over $16 billion was spent to influence federal elections—almost entirely by political parties, corporations, unions, and artificial legal entities. But what if that power returned to the people?
There are roughly 175 million registered voters in the United States. If each voter had instead contributed just $91.42, the entire federal election cycle could have been funded by citizens alone—without a single dollar from outside interests.
