The number of Sydney Festival artists boycotting the festival growing
High-profile artist Khaled Sabsabi and comedian and TV personality Nazeem Hussein have now joined with Indigenous rapper Barkaa and dance ensemble Bindi Bosses who are now also boycotting the Sydney Festival joining the original artists from the Arab Theatre Studio, Bankstown Poetry Slam and journalist Amy McQuire, who announced earlier this week that they were withdrawing from the Festival due to the Festival’s acceptance of funding from the Israeli apartheid state.
A number of excellent articles have now been published and we will update you with all of them over the next few days. This is in Meanjin and was written by Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah, Dr Michael Mohammed Ahmad, Dr Paula Abood, Fahad Ali, Dr Jumana Bayeh, Alissar Chidiac and Sara Saleh who are some of those boycotting the festival and working with and supporting artists on this important action.
