Forget the spin that the new Saddleworth School relocation and rebuild is “A Done Deal”.It isn’t.
The Save Diggle Action Group (SDAG) have consistently reiterated that until planning is approved the new 1500 pupil Saddleworth school cannot be built in Diggle. The Education Funding Agency have also said that the new school can be built on the existing site in Uppermill and within budget.
SDAG have highways and traffic planning specialists and a leading Q.C helping and guiding them to overturn this decision.
So if you are one of the many people who feel this re-siting of Saddleworth School from Uppermill to Diggle is destructive, flawed and a planning disaster for Diggle and its neighbouring villages it’s time to speak out and get your voice heard.
ACT NOW
Interserve who are the appointed contractors and Oldham Council have conducted a series of local consultations and are asking for your public comments. Your comments will be used in their evidence in planning. The closing date for your ‘pre-planning public consultation’ is 5 p.m Tuesday 23rd June.
So please help us if you are unhappy with the planned school move either for the reasons of traffic congestion and pedestrian/pupil safety, environmental concerns and/or the loss of our ever decreasing Green Belt and open spaces.
Go to the Interserve school survey at Provide Feedback: http://newsaddleworthschool.co.uk/consultation-response-form/ and also to the Oldham Council Highways Design Survey: https://oldham-consult.objective.co.uk/public/sadsch_diggle_highways?tab=files&standalone=true to make your concerns heard.
Use your voice to say NO and to ask the EFA to rebuild the new school on its existing site in Uppermill. All opinion polls held say over 80% of the public who completed opinion surveys want the school to stay in Uppermill; it can be built in Uppermill.
PLEASE ACT NOW AND FILL IN BOTH SURVEYS AND GET YOUR VIEWS HEARD.
