Dead Negro Spring near Jay, OK is still listed with the U.S. Board of Geographic Names.  The spring is named simply because someone once found an African-American who had passed away there.  Having an official place name with a racial slur is an insult to all African-Americans and an embarrassment to our state.  With the diversity in our state, we should seek to correct these issues and find a name that can be celebrated by the entire community.  I propose that the spring be renamed to Huckleberry Spring in honor of the local Huckleberry Festival held annually on the 4th of July weekend.
