OHV's to have access to all streets in the Town of Pictou
OHV's to have access to all streets in the Town of Pictou
The Issue
Allowing ohv's on the streets of Pictou has a lot of benefits for everyone. A lot of sxs and atv riders live on various streets, including living in the heights have to trailer their ohv to the gas stations and trail to go for a ride, why shouldn't they be allowed to drive down the road on their ohv to fuel up and head out on a beautiful scenic drive when they want, instead of trailering to Lyons Brook or Scotsburn to unload.
As for anyone coming into Pictou by driving on the jitney trail that is from out of town, they are coming to our local restaurants and stores, which benefits our town as well.
Our town barely ever has tourists, unless it is Lobster Carnival or the Christmas parade and a select few other events throughout the year... like the DeCoste Center having something put on. Atv and Sxs riders are tourists as well, they just love the fresh breeze that comes with driving an OHV.
OHV drivers are well aware of the 25km speed and we abide by it on the pictou roads now as well as any other trail that ohv riders drive on. We aren't out at 2 or 3am revving our engines all around town and we are respectful of people walking, whether it is with a dog, or children or just themselves on a walk, and also respectful of bicycle riders as well.
Most OHV riders maintain their sxs or atv to keep their running conditions to top shape, unlike some (not all) cars and truck owners. Our bikes are not as loud as some people think they are.
On top of all that, we all have our sxs or atvs registered, licensed, and insured, which means they are completely legal.
For anyone that is all for OHV's to be allowed to be driven on all streets of Pictou, the next meeting is on June 15th, please support us in signing his petition to allow OHV's on all Pictou roads.
