As an individual deeply impacted by how changes are forced upon Americans without their consensus, I find it only fair to demand the same from those imposing these changes. The estate currently known as “Mar a Lago” is the Florida property owned by Donald Trump.  “Mar a Lago” is a Portuguese translation of the English words “Sea to Lake”. Given that Trump has initiated policies like changing geographical references to "Gulf of America" and imposing English as the official language, it's only justifiable for his estate name to follow the same protocol.

Why should Americans have to learn Portuguese to understand the origin of this estate's name? In a country where 41 million people speak Spanish at home and over 350 languages are spoken (US Census Bureau), it seems ironically unilateral to enforce one language over another.

In light of this, we are petitioning to change the name of Trump’s estate, Mar a Lago to the English translation, Sea to Lake, standing up against forced alterations without people's consent. Time and again, changes are being pushed onto the American people by way of extreme gaslighting or any other methodology up to and including outright deception or basic lack of transparency. This is all taking place without any input of how “we the people” feel about the proposed changes. This shift in estate name will bring about a sense of consistency adhering to the English language policies.  One moment rid of hypocrisy.
