This is the official page to support The Botanic Gardens Community Association & Volunteers fight once again to  Save The Aviary from the proposed closure by Sefton Council

These signatures will be added to the ones collected in the park.

Thousands of pounds have been invested by private donations via the Botanic Gardens Community Association in the aviary while Sefton knew it was proposed to be closed.

They made the decision without consulting us or the staff who care for the birds.

Botanic Gardens is one of Southport’s most important public parks. It brings people together, supports wildlife, and provides a valued space for families and visitors

The breeding of parrots is cruel and a sad reality. The Aviary at the Botanic Gardens, is the best "solution" for these unwanted animals who mainly have never know anything other than a small cage indoors. They would not survive in the wild. 

Parrots are highly sociable animals and do not deal, as well as you'd think, with loneliness

Parrots are the most abandoned (given up) "pet" in society.  Some of the "lucky ones" have found  themselves at The Botanic Gardens in Southport
