OFFICIAL HONOUR BOBBY MOORE PETITION

OFFICIAL HONOUR BOBBY MOORE PETITION
The Issue
Bobby Moore captained England to the 1966 World Cup Final win over West Germany, but tragically died with cancer in 1993 aged 51, before his achievements on this pitch could be properly recognised by the powers that be.
His name has also helped raise more than £31 million for the Bobby Moore Fund, raising vital money for Cancer Research UK. His legacy lives on in the lives he is helping to save every year.
So we call on the government to introduce a new honour for posthumous recognition, ensuring that exceptional individuals who were overlooked during their lifetime can still receive the nation’s gratitude.
West Ham Fan Stuart Lawson sums it up best:
Bobby Moore was more than just a footballer – he was the embodiment of English sporting greatness.
Bobby wasn’t just respected by his teammates and fans. He was revered by his opponents too, including the likes of Pelé, who called him the greatest defender he ever faced.
He epitomised dignity, belief, and integrity, carrying himself with calm authority both in victory and defeat.
Bobby Moore was universally loved – and still is, by football fans across the globe.
This petition is about recognising a national icon, a man who brought the country together in one of its proudest moments.
Bobby gave everything for England. It’s time England gave something back.
Let’s give Bobby Moore the recognition he deserves!
