Today, I came across this, written by Emma.

We live in a society that values bright colours exploding in the sky over the health, wellbeing and safety of our Veterans, pets, nurses/doctors & Wildlife

- We live in a society where a bang can mean terrorism. Where a menu falling in Bluewater can cause mass hysteria and panic...But explosions at night are okay as long as pretty colours follow.

- We live in a society where we “love our pets” but we’ll ignore that dog shaking in the corner or barking loudly to defend its home.

- We live in a society intent on catching that “Croydon Cat Killer” - but we ignore the cats - stray or not that might be hiding beneath our cars or in our sheds.

- We life in a society that shares false posts about Muslims being offended at our poppy. But we’re okay with our veterans lying on their bathroom floor unable to move in terror.

- We live in a society that bands together to “ban the straw!” - but we forget what comes up must come down and the rockets and plastic that rise to the sky fall into woodlands and farmers fields. Choking our wildlife and livestock.

- We live in a society that supports our NHS. But we’re okay with our doctors and nurses and hospital staff being woken up by the loud, ongoing bangs.

No I don’t hate fireworks. I hate RANDOM fireworks. Organised displays allow most if not all of these scenarios to be prepared for and covered. But between now and new year you’ll never know when fireworks will be going off. They don’t last just one night. It can be days. They don’t last for just an hour. They can stop and start again. People get injured. Animals and humans alike get scared. Fires can start. People can use these as weapons given the chance.

Ban the sale of fireworks for public use!

Sadly, today I heard of the loss of a cow, an owl, a cat, a guinea pig, and a dog, (actually several dogs).  All from fireworks.  It is cruel and unnecessary.  According to the animal welfare act 2006. it is against the AWA2006 to cause unnecessary distress to animals.  How are fireworks at random times through the year necessary?

PLEASE write to your MP, it’s quick and easy writetothem.com.  They will deny there is a problem if they get no letters. They may well deny there is a problem if they do get letters. Don't worry there are MPs out there that are willing to help and believe as we do, we just need to support them…
