Mukutban forest district, Nagpur, Mumbai.
A Pregnant tigress choked to death with her paws chopped off by unidentified poachers. Probably in one of the most shocking incidents, a four-year-old pregnant tigress was killed in the Mukutban forest range. Sources say the tigress was found dead in a small cave near a nullah. She had wounds of wire snares in her neck and other injuries on her body which were inflicted by some sharp-edged weapons. Two front paws of the animal were also chopped.

Two months since said incident.
A joint team of the two departments arrested father-son duo Ashok and Lethu Atram from Pandharvani village in Zari-Jamni tahsil and seized a paw of the tigress from them. Search is underway for three more culprits found to have been involved in the crime. After the initial arrest of two people, nothing moved ahead to nab the others.

Tiger Killings in Maharastra have reached an alarming rate, with this being the 17th tiger death in Maharashtra in a little over three months. At least 11 of these deaths are due to poaching or under mysterious circumstances not proved yet. Despite the numerous killings, little effort is being taken to protect these majestic creatures. Animal poaching must be taken seriously, and more importantly given justice. If we are to restore the number of tigers to normal, forest officials must take necessary action - Fast. The following steps must be taken -
1.Strengthening protection measures in National Parks, Sanctuaries and Tiger       Reserves.
2.Helping local communities to reduce their dependence on forest resources.
3.Mitigating human-wildlife conflict.
4.Providing a scientific database that will serve as a basis for sound management of  tiger habitats, and capacity building for conservation of the species.

We have gone past the point of awareness. Strict action is the only solution. And this is possible only through government cooperation and citizen involvement. Because at the end of the day, we live on a planet we share with the wildlife. And without them, we have no future.
