Elective surgery waiting lists globally have blown out due to the impact of the pandemic on hospitals. People awaiting knee, hip, spinal, shoulder or other joint surgery, could benefit from the option of better funded physiotherapy whilst they wait. Indicators are that 'pre-hab' (physiotherapy before surgery) can boost the quality of life for sufferers of musculo-skeletal conditions. It can also accelerate post-surgery recovery times or even allow them to avoid the surgery altogether.

Indicators are that up to 30% of orthopaedic surgery candidates​ may not need surgery after an appropriate period of physiotherapy treatment. This would help 1000’s of people currently suffering - move on with life more quickly. It could also collectively save patients, tax-payers and insurers billions, whilst reducing wait-lists for others.
