OCR CS Paper 2 SCANDAL
The Issue
OCR 2023 CS Paper 2 Scandal
Subject: Request for Consideration of Predicted Grades in lieu of the Difficult Programming Test in our Computer Science GCSE
Hey all,
We hope this message finds you well. We’re reaching out on behalf of the students who recently took the OCR GCSE Computer Science exam. We feel it’s important to voice our concerns about the programming test we were given, which was way harder than we expected and in stark contrast to what we were taught.
This isn't about us trying to dodge a challenge, far from it. We’ve put in countless hours of study, practice, and prep. But it feels like we’ve been set up to fail when we were hit with a test that was largely focused on topics we hadn't even covered in class. In essence, it felt like being asked to perform surgery after taking a first aid course – the test was just too out of our depth.
We're not looking for any special treatment, but we do think fairness is key. We believe our predicted grades paint a more accurate picture of our abilities and understanding of computer science than this one test. They are based on our hard work and dedication throughout the course, rather than a single exam that seemed to deviate significantly from our curriculum.
So, we're putting this petition forward. We’re asking that you consider our request to cancel the OCR results for this specific programming test and instead allow our predicted grades to stand. This will give a more just and balanced assessment of our capabilities and knowledge in the subject.
Your understanding and consideration in this matter would mean the world to us. This isn't just about grades; it's about the fairness of the educational process. We have a lot to offer in the field of computer science and we want our results to truly reflect our potential.
Thank you for taking the time to read our petition. We believe that with your support, we can make a difference and ensure that this situation is handled in a way that is fair for all involved.
Yours Sincerely,
OCR CS 2023 paper 2 victims.
