Oceanside Schools Community Survey 2020

For parents, our school districts’ handling of the reopening this fall has been the biggest issue on their mind, by far.
In the spring, a majority of parents indicated they wanted a return to full-time in person instruction as soon as it could be done safely for both kids and teachers.
To date, despite many meetings, hundreds of parent comments, our petition with almost 700 signatures, much attention on social media, etc – the district has still not produced a plan to do that.
And just a few days ago released a survey that pretends to be about a return to in-person instruction, but does not even offer full-time in person learning as an option to choose.
The easiest way to avoid getting an answer you don’t like is to not ask the question, right?
This is just a continuation of a trend I’ve been watching for years. The District used to ask tough questions to parents and teachers, and then ignore their answers.
Now they’ve decided they simply won’t ask those questions any more.
I think that’s wrong. I think parent and teacher voices need to be heard – so that input can guide the decisions our District makes for our kids.
As a candidate for Oceanside School Board this fall, I think that’s wrong. I think parent and teacher voices need to be heard – so that input can guide the decisions our District makes for our kids.
Kids first, not district first.
I intend to support that input from the day I’m seated behind the board table after the election, and to make sure I know exactly what YOU want I’ve put together a survey that will give me that information.
Would you like to make YOUR voice heard?
If so, please spend a few minutes with the survey, and be sure to share it with your friends.

We all need to be involved in making sure our kids’ education is the best it can be.
Thanks!

P.S., And if you want to help make real change in Oceanside schools, any support you can give me in my attempt to be elected in November would be greatly appreciated - by me as well as by any other parents who want to see the interests of our kids put first in Oceanside education!
