We have been ignored....

For those of you at the Board meeting last night, we saw a few pages of a half-baked plan to reopen our schools full-time, but nothing that could actually be used when we come to that.
As I mentioned in my talk, the plan presented was largely to “check off the box”, with cost numbers designed to produce Shock and Awe, not realistic estimates based on an intent to actually follow through.
Anyone who is unhappy with the results is going to have to continue to press further.
If you’re interested in helping a group of parents who want to do that with their effort, go to http://openourschools.org and sign up for their email list – and consider donating a few bucks to help them with the filing fees.
The lawyers are working “pro bono” on this, they just need to file, and if everyone who signed this petition chipped in $5 that would be done tomorrow.
Now..... as part of making a permanent change to how Oceanside Unified runs, to get it to pay more attention to what it’s parents want, today I announced the official launch of my candidacy for Oceanside Unified School Board this fall. District 5, the “Wildcat Corridor”.
If you – like me – feel we need a change in direction on our Board, I would welcome your support in that.
Do you - like me - feel our Board should be putting our kids first, not our district first?
Are you tired of the 5-0 votes in favor of anything the district wants to give itself, but never seeing anything parents want even come up for a vote at all?
Are you willing to vote for someone different - Todd Maddison (that's me...) this fall?
For more details you can go to http://www.todd4kids.com and read a bit more about me and why I’m running.
There's even a video, if you're so inclined...
If you’re not in my district, feel free to forward this to anyone who is. And of course I’d welcome support from any corner of Oceanside.
A good education for our kids is not something that is limited to my district, it’s an issue for all of us.
To keep in touch there, sign up for my email list. You can even volunteer, if you’d like!
You're here at Change.org because you believe change is possible - how about being part of that and making some change in Oceanside Unified this year!
