Ocean Conservation by Oakridge Vizag

Ocean Conservation by Oakridge Vizag
The Issue
Around 8 million tons of plastic enter our oceans every year. As it stands now, there is more micro-plastic in the ocean than there are stars in the Milky Way. If we continue to destroy our beaches like this, our future will surely be bleak. It’s very well known that the protection of our world is the protection of ourselves and its destruction is synonymous with suicide.
As the future of the world and the guardians of its resources, we the students of Oakridge International School Visakhapatnam are keen on taking action to conserve our beautiful beaches.
So if beaches mean as much to you as they do to us, join our efforts by signing our petition and promising to follow these five golden rules to Save Our Beaches!
THE FIVE GOLDEN RULES
I Promise to:
1. Avoid using single-use plastic items and Replace household appliances with eco-friendly ones.
2. Always carry my own bags and containers when I go shopping.
3. Dispose waste in appropriate containers (Wet waste / Non-Biodegradable waste / Biodegradable Waste)
4. Not dispose of plastic, chemical and other waste in beaches or in water bodies.
5. Spread awareness about coastal pollution through my social circle.
