Objection to planning for Gas Fired Power Station at Ballyneety (Luddenmore/Quarry site)

The Issue

Planning application was erected on Tuesday 7th Feb at the site of the Quarry at Luddenmore near to Ballyneety, Bohermore and Caherconlish. There is a 5 week timeframe to lodge an objection to the planning and we as a community intend to do just that with your help.

Details of the application are for the overall building of a Gas Fired open cycle Turbine power Generation station (the picture above is an actual proposal of what it would look like) . Part of the construction would contain a 44 meter tall Chimney exhaust. The plant will be fired by Fossil Fuels and there is a total absence of information regarding the emissions. This type of fossil fuel infrastructure flies in the face of the Governments own climate act passed in July 2021.

The proposed location is rural and surrounded on all sides by farmland, rural housing and small by roads which would not be suitable even to the building phase of this plant.

We will not allow this plant to proceed with planning in this area. It is entirely unsuitable and will be a detriment to every individual living here. It offers no benefits to the community and we must protect our people, land, animals now and for our future so that our children will still have a home that is untarnished by pollution.

We have very little time to act. Please please sign in support of our cause.

Thank you
