The architect has hired Greenhayes planning to submit a 42 page appeal to the planning inspectorate.

Here are some quotes from their 42 page appeal document. They claim:

  • unclear how the scheme can cause overlooking or a loss of privacy
  • new tree planting will take place in the southern part of the site, meaning this would filter views
  • No unacceptable impact on highway safety
  • The scheme will improve the appearance of the site and its surroundings
  • there is no significant or demonstrable harm that would meet this high policy bar and which would outweigh the numerous benefits of the scheme
  • protect access to the wider drainage infrastructure
  • There will be no harm to the local wildlife
  • The development will retain natural character to the site
  • will achieve a more attractive and better quality landscaped character than the current site

We dispute all of these comments

1591 have signed our petition in 11 weeks

We hope to get thousand objections on the official planning portal. Anyone from the public can comment. This is your chance to help us

We object for the following reasons

• It will have a major impact on the safety and enjoyment of the playpark adjacent to the plot as the play-park will be overlooked by the 4-storey development. The development is less than 10metres from the play-park used by children in the area.

• This development would have a significant impact upon the neighbour’s enjoyment of their rear  living space and gardens through the potential for overlooking and loss of privacy

• It will cause a loss of important green space

• There is a mature oak tree adjacent the site. The development might harm the oak trees health and longevity. Several trees would be removed in order for the development to be completed.

• There is a badger run adjacent to the site & there are potentially protected newts & dormice living in the area. Foxes also live there. The development will have a negative effect on nature conservation.

• The size, height, proximity, and scale of the proposed development would be overbearing and harmful

• The proposed development would be harmful to the character and appearance of the surrounding area

• The proposal would be inconsistent with the design and scale of surrounding buildings

• There is inadequate parking for 4 houses which will cause congestion on the roads

• The proposed development would impinge upon residential amenity for neighbours.

• Most of the site is undevelopable due to storm tanks present under the ground. These are vital for local home flood protection.

• Potential problems with surface water drainage and an unnecessary flood risk.

• There are traffic safety concerns due to the development being built opposite the blind bend between Newts way and Darwell close

• During a June 2020 Ecology survey, most of the internal areas of the site were inaccessible due to the density of the scrub habitat. Newts could potentially live here.

• the loss of natural habitat to the wildlife, there are foxes, badgers, and other wildlife in living here

• the interruption to the habitat for the badgers, the badger run is a few metres from this plot

• the increased risk of flooding, this area acts as a soakaway as its on a slope, water drains here

• the potential harm to the storm tanks, its clear from southern water that there are storm tanks underneath, if these are damaged during construction it could cause catastrophic problems

• They should have private amenity gardens that are a minimum of 10 metres long as required by policy. From the designs it looks like the rear gardens have 1-2 metres of space.

• the design is an absolute eye sore, 4 terrace houses which are orange, yellow white and black. It is out of character with the surrounding area

• Its 4 stories high when the surrounding houses are 2 stories high. The size of the development is overbearing.

Thank you for reading our petition and signing it.

We have had strong support. We now need to convert these 1591 signatures into official comments of objection
