Our petition has been a great success, we received 1552 signatures over the last 10 weeks. Thank you for taking the time to sign our petition.
The case officer will be reading all the comments left by the public on the official casework portal before making their final decision.
This is moment that counts.
Hastings borough council already rejected this development in November 2021. We hope the planning inspectorate will also dismiss the appeal.
The developer has two appeals running simultaneously. You can copy and paste your comment for both appeals if you have time.

Below is a reminder of some of the reasons for why we object to the development
• It will have a major impact on the safety and enjoyment of the playpark adjacent to the plot as the play-park will be overlooked by the 4-storey development. The development is less than 10metres from the play-park used by children in the area.
• This development would have a significant impact upon the neighbour’s enjoyment of their rear living space and gardens through the potential for overlooking and loss of privacy
• It will cause a loss of important green space
• There is a mature oak tree adjacent the site. The development might harm the oak trees health and longevity. Several trees would be removed in order for the development to be completed.
• There is a badger run adjacent to the site & there are potentially protected newts & dormice living in the area. Foxes also live there. The development will have a negative effect on nature conservation.
• The size, height, proximity, and scale of the proposed development would be overbearing and harmful. It is 4 stories high and will tower over the play park
• The proposed development would be harmful to the character and appearance of the surrounding area. The multicoloured design is an eye sore and doesn’t fit in with the other surrounding houses.
• The proposal would be inconsistent with the design and scale of surrounding buildings
• There is inadequate parking for 4 houses which will cause congestion on the roads. There is only 4 parking spaces for 4 x 4 story 4 bedroom houses.
• The proposed development would impinge upon residential amenity for neighbours.
• Most of the site is undevelopable due to storm tanks present under the ground. These are vital for local home flood protection.
• Potential problems with surface water drainage and an unnecessary flood risk.
• There are traffic safety concerns due to the development being built opposite the blind bend between Newts way and Darwell close
• During a June 2020 Ecology survey, most of the internal areas of the site were inaccessible due to the density of the scrub habitat. Newts could potentially live here.
