OBJECT Controlled Parking Zone

OBJECT Controlled Parking Zone
The Issue
Living next to the roads where object permit parking is being proposed, we are facing a looming crisis. Our community, which includes families, elderly residents, and working professionals, is about to be severely impacted. The current proposal seeks to implement permit parking every day from 8 am to 8 pm, leaving us, the residents, with nowhere to park our vehicles. This decision threatens to uproot our daily lives and disrupt our sense of belonging and security in our own neighbourhood.
The proposed parking restrictions are not just an inconvenience; they present significant challenges to our way of life. For many of us, driving is not a luxury but a necessity. We need access to our vehicles for work, school runs, grocery shopping, medical appointments, and elder care. With no alternative parking solutions provided by the local authorities, residents will be forced to seek parking far from their homes, potentially compromising safety and accessibility.
Moreover, the lack of adequate parking provisions can impact property values and deter potential home buyers, affecting our investments and financial futures. Moving vehicles constantly also contributes to increased traffic, pollution, and carbon emissions, counteracting any potential environmental benefits the parking permit scheme might claim.
We Object to the Proposed CPZ Extension Because:
- The proposed restrictions (8am–8pm, 7 days a week) are excessive, unnecessary, and completely disproportionate for a residential area.
- The scheme will severely disrupt everyday life, making it difficult for residents to receive visitors, carers, tradespeople, and essential deliveries due to overly restrictive parking rules.
- The changes will make the area less convenient and less attractive to live in, with potential negative effects on property values.
- It is unfair and unbalanced that residents face strict parking controls while the wider community continues to benefit from local amenities without equivalent restrictions.
We urge the local council to reconsider this decision and consult with community members to find a more balanced and pragmatic solution.
What We Are Calling For:
- The proposed permit hours are substantially reduced to more proportionate and reasonable operating times, limited to weekdays only, 10am - 4pm.
- Residents in neighbouring developments, including Luctons Close, are formally considered within the scheme and made eligible to purchase permits for surrounding roads.
Please join us in opposing this proposal and advocating for a practical, community-centered approach to parking in our neighbourhood. Sign this petition to make our voices heard and protect the integrity of our community.
