This petition is to bring attention to the importance of coverage to individuals who are currently suffering to manage their obesity due to hormonal and metabolic conditions. 2.8 million Americans die every year due to being over weight and obese. Obesity is the contributing factor to 13 specific cancers and is the precursor for many other health conditions. This warning sign to a decline in health has gone untreated in the medical field and been dismissed. We as a country need to take action to bring education and importance to the treatment of obesity and access to care. Treating obesity in the early stages will reduce concurrent comorbidites and complications and reduce the strain on our already stretched and struggling healthcare infrastructure.
