Petition Update: Your Voice Is Being Heard

First, thank you.

Every signature on this petition represents a resident who believes Oakville deserves transparency, meaningful public consultation, and thoughtful planning before decisions of this magnitude are made.

I wanted to let you know that the petition has now been formally submitted to Oakville Town Council in advance of the Council meeting on Monday, August 10 Meeting details

Along with the petition, I have submitted a request urging Council to exercise its authority under Section 38 of the Planning Act by adopting an Interim Control By-law (ICBL). An ICBL would provide a temporary pause, giving Council the time to review the facts, assess the impacts of a proposed 320 MW AI data centre, and ensure residents are properly consulted before any irreversible planning decisions are made.

This is an important moment.

Council has the legal authority to create the time needed for transparency, due diligence, and public engagement. Our voices matter, but only if they are heard.

If you are able, I encourage you to attend the Council meeting on Monday, August 10, to demonstrate that our community expects openness, accountability, and meaningful public participation in decisions that will shape Oakville for generations.

Whether you signed the petition, shared it with others, or simply took the time to learn about the issue, thank you. Community involvement is what ensures important decisions are made with the public not simply for the public.
