On March 3, 1971, Christine Ferrara, was savagely raped and murdered by Carl A. Macedonio. Christine, better known to her friends and family as Chris, was only 18 years old. She was walking to work one morning in Smithtown NY when Macedonio spotted her. He waited until Chris walked by, pulled her into a nearby wooded area, viscously raped her, and slit her throat, out of fear that she might be able to identify him. She was reported missing and her family went through a very dark time where they didn’t know where she was or what had happened to her. Ten days later, two young boys playing in the woods found Chris's body. Police immediately suspected Macedonio, as he had previously attempted to abduct another young girl in the same spot. He had brutally and sadistically raped yet a third young schoolgirl, also in the same location. Soon after, Macedonio confessed to the rape and murder of Christine Ferrara. He was convicted of First Degree Murder, First Degree Manslaughter, and First Degree Rape. He was also convicted of First Degree Rape for the other young schoolgirl. Carl Macedonio was sentenced to a minimum term of 33 years to a maximum term of life in prison. He has appeared before a Parole Board numerous times and has been denied parole every time. Now, he will appear again, to possibly have a chance to be free. Chris, unfortunately, will NEVER have another chance.

We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the parole of Carl A. Macedonio. For the protection of our society, justice demands that this repeated rapist and murderer serve the maximum prison term given to him at the time he was sentenced for this malicious crime.
