Find A Better Way and Fix the BQE

The Issue

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports, "The city’s Department of Transportation (DOT) is backing a plan that would temporarily replace the famous Brooklyn Heights Promenade with a six-lane highway during the reconstruction of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) between Atlantic Avenue and Sands." Street.(Read Article)

In addition to turning the Promenade into a highway, this plan does nothing to reduce air pollution, traffic or noise long term.  In fact, the city is proposing spending billions of dollars to simply rebuild this terrible highway exactly as it exists today.  Instead, we demand A Better Way.  This is an opportunity to build something better for New York City.  We need innovative thinking that tackles the problems created by this highway and we need to apply it to the entire corridor impacted.

New Yorkers deserve clean air, safe streets and a reduction in noise and vibrations.

Please sign and share the petition below. You do not need to live in Brooklyn to participate.  Saving the Promenade is important to locals and tourists alike. In addition, if you would like to be kept abreast of news, activity or want to volunteer, please visit  abetterway.nyc
