Petition updateStop the Rezoning of 4650 BroadwayReport: CITY COUNCIL Subcommittee meeting on Zoning & Franchises July 12, 2016
Inwood Preservation
Jul 14, 2016
At the first subcommittee hearing on the 4650 spot up-zoning, more than twenty people, including several from Inwood Preservation, came to give testimony at an almost two hour meeting and almost all were opposed. The City Council video is available online under "Legislation and Hearings" scroll to the sub committee video link (starts at 14 minute mark). Big shout out to all that participated! The team from the developers presented information that clarified the affordability is not at the 50% level Council Member Rodriguez said was required for his support. In the video, you will hear Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez say that he cannot support the request to up-zone as it now stands. There was talk about more dialogue with the developers. We must keep informed! The Subcommittee will meet again on Monday August 15th at 9:30am; please note that the location is given as 250 Broadway. (Seems like a good sign that the ULURP deadline was extended 15 days - from 50 to 65 days – after the June 22 City Planning decision, so that City Council will have opportunity to vote at their meeting on Thursday the 18th at 1:30pm. If City Council does not vote, the request passes automatically.) Public comment will not be heard at the Subcommittee meeting on August 15th instead they will discuss as committee and vote, after which it passed to the Land Use Committee at 11:00am; the full Land Use committee will also not hear public comment but discuss and vote. Then it finally goes to City Council for vote. These meetings are open to the public. Meanwhile, please contact CM Rodriguez and the other City Council Members, especially those on the Subcommittee for Zoning & Franchises and the Land Use Committee; reach out, be heard, and please share this petition!
