The Protect Health Care Workers Now petition urges Donald Trump to extend The Defense Production Act to also include PPE for healthcare professionals, address testing shortages, establish treatment centers for health care workers impacted by the virus and ensure that there are a sufficient number of ventilators set aside for health care workers who are diagnosed with Coronavirus.

Extending The Defense Production Act to include PPE for healthcare professionals while addressing testing shortages will positively impact manufacturers' desire and ability to supply needed equipment such as PPE and testing for COVOID 19 that healthcare workers need to survive this pandemic and provide jobs to workers displaced by the pandemic.

It is imperative that we move quickly before we continue to lose frontline health care workers to the pandemic. Healthcare workers are already dying because they do not have proper PPE. Let’s learn from other pandemics and be proactive vs. reactive in getting health care workers the supplies and support that they need to in order to save lives during this epidemiological crisis in our history.
