Residents of Lugarno, Peakhurst and Peakhurst Heights do not have an efficient transport method to Menai.

Currently, local residents of Lugarno (as an example) need to catch a bus to Riverwood (942), a train to Punchbowl and a further bus to Menai (M92). The total travel duration is ~1 hour. Driving direct to Menai is ~15 minutes.

The situation is also complicated and the travel time long for residents of Peakhurst and Peakhurst Heights who do not have the benefit of a local train service. 

The current method of public transport to Menai is impractical and we call on the NSW Minister of Transport and Roads, The Hon. Andrew James Constance, MP, to please implement an efficient, practical and safe service through Punchbowl Bus Company to Menai.

A more direct bus route would benefit senior residents to travel easily to Menai, including Menai Marketplace and other local shops and restaurants, without having to hop on and off various services and travel an unnecessarily long journey.

Further, children enrolled at schools in Menai who do not have a direct bus service available (***it is only available to students enrolled at Menai High School and Inaburra High School) and who currently have to travel 2 hours each day to get to school navigating through three different services, would benefit greatly from a quicker, more efficient, practical and most importantly, safer trip to school without having to be unsupervised for an unnecessarily long duration of time - an issue which would be further exacerbated if there were unexpected issues with any of these transport services.

We call on the NSW Minister of Transport and Roads to please:

• Implement a direct bus service to Menai for Lugarno, Peakhurst and Peakhurst South residents

The service will also be beneficial for Menai residents travelling to these suburbs.
