Allow student nurses and other students healthcare workers to be given financial support

From my own personal experience in the healthcare setting student health care workers and nurses are expected to be on placement for 40+ hours a week unpaid for weeks. This impacts a student's abilities to pay for crucial items and bills including but not limited to; bills, rent, food, petrol and other family members. Being on placement impairs a student's ability to work their normal job as the roster usually clashes with their work. It is essential that a change is made to help support students whilst on placement to save them from the financial stress. I believe that these students should be entitled to some form of payment during their placement period to assist with things such as parking, travel and assist with bills and rent during this period. Students already have low hours when attending uni and many nursing students face the consequence of having their subject marked as failed if they are found to be working whilst on placement.
There are many other various students on practical placements such as but not limited teaching students, social workers who experience the financial troubles of placement.
