Here in Marrickville we’re so lucky to have a high street that is vibrant, thriving and rich in culture. But our high street is also one of the most barren in the Inner West with very few trees and greenery.

Right now we have the chance to create a new greener public space at the Calvert Street Carpark on Illawarra Road, right in the centre of Marrickville. 

While the Inner West Council has expressed interest in improving the carpark they haven’t been able to allocate any funding to make it happen. 

As your candidate for the Marrickville Midjuburi ward, I’m strongly supporting Council’s application for $1.6 million in NSW Government funding to fix Calvert Street carpark by: 

- Planting additional street trees;
- Moving powerlines underground and adding new street lighting;
- Adding new street furniture; and 
- Building rain gardens and landscaping to beautify the area.

If we secure this funding, our community could have brand new public space that would immensely improve the liveability of our local area.
