Passionate fishermen and fisherwomen in NSW are wanting to enforce protection for large breeding female Flathead. This will ensure fish stocks for future generations due to a serious decline in breeders. A law enforcing this protection has been current in both Queensland (from 2009) and Victoria (from 2013).

A slot limit between 40cm too 70cm for Flathead is the goal outcome. All flathead 70cm and over must be released. Fisherman strongly believe NSW should enforce this law promptly.

A petition to support this will be submitted to the NSW Fisheries, directly to Scott Hanson - Director General of the DPI.
