If food is our religion then restaurants are our places of worship; so sacred that they know everything about us. It’s not just the restaurant premises, but the people who work there too. The waiter who brought in our order earlier than expected, a chef who remembers our special order every time or that bartender who always makes our drink just right. 

India, like many other countries around the world, is experiencing a national health crisis caused by Coronavirus. The entire nation is on a 21-day lockdown. But a big credit goes to these heroes - our restaurants who closed their operations keeping our health & safety first despite taking a direct revenue hit. Sign my petition.

The F&B industry employs more than 7.3 million people. If this shutdown continues, 20% to 25% of the employee-base could lose their jobs. For a restaurant to continue being operational, they have to be financially sustainable to ensure payment of loans, expenses, salaries, rent & so much more. Our community cannot work from home!

Which is why a government intervention is the need of the hour. Just as many individuals live from pay-check to pay-check, so do restaurants and bars. The Government needs to: 

1. Introduce employee unemployment pay cover to make sure workers do not have to worry about salaries in such testing times.
2. Defer rent and utility payments 
3. Moratorium for upcoming statutory dues

For years, chefs, bartenders and restaurant staff have contributed to our communities. Now, we need help from our communities and government. We at Dineout are working with restaurants on Pay Now Eat Later Vouchers that will translate into funds being transferred to the restaurants on a real-time basis, to provide them with the working capital that they desperately need in the current scenario.
